Warby Parker.

The one thing I do thank my poor eyesight is for the cool glasses I get to wear. Although, contacts, glasses, eye appointments, eye drops, and solutions can be so burdensome and expensive, I do get excited when I get a new pair of glasses. Rockin' the specs since 10th grade, I have gone through my share of eye glasses. A few months ago, I heard, through a friend, about the website Warby Parker. I checked it out and found their selection to be very trendy, urban, and affordable! Plus, when you purchase a pair, WB donates a pair to someone in need. They're like the Toms of eye glasses. A very cool and progressive concept! Since they are an online store, they offer a home trial option where you can pick up to 5 frames, they are sent to your house free of cost, and you can try them for a week. I did this and luckily found the perfect pair! They came in this week and I was so thrilled!
I follow Warby Parker on Facebook and Twitter and it is such a hip company. They're in NYC and have yoga sessions during their lunch hour! I would love to work there. Relocate to NYC? Maybe one day. :)

Thank you, Warby Parker, for my uber cool specs!

Super Sprint Tri.

I conquered my first triathlon last month. It was a super sprint triathlon meaning it wasn't a full length tri. This women-only triathlon on 9/11 benefitted the firefighters of the area. I found out about it in July and told a few girlfriends about it. They accepted the challenge and the training began! New to the world of triathlon, I searched online for a training guide and found an eight week program that would prep me for the big day. Being about two months from the event, this workout plan was perfect. Training had its ups and downs. There were days that I missed my turbo kickboxing classes and days that the lap pool was the last place I wanted to be, but it was fun pushing my body to different exercises and getting out of the typical workout routine I stick to.

Alas, the day came! I just focused on having fun and getting through the swimming, biking, and running. I wasn't pushing to finish within a certain time; I just aimed to finish. I finished in 38 minutes. It was a great feeling to cross the finish line! I also had a great support team cheering on my friends and I. It was a great experience and accomplishment. I hope to do another sprint triathlon come the springtime. I'm also looking into some 5ks and duathlons this winter. Anyone care to join in on the fitness fun? :)

Have you ever done a triathlon?

Stay happy & healthy,
Sarah

She lives!

Yes, I am still alive.
Yet again, I have abandoned my blog for a while. Life has been pretty busy and its' ups and down keep it interesting. I'll post soon about everything that I've been up to.

Back again,
Sarah

Vintage Ring.

How beautiful is this ring?! I love vintage, classic looking rings.

Curious: would you prefer a vintage ring like this or a typical diamond ring as an engagement ring?

New Header.

Do you like my new header? I do.
It's my favorite one so far.
Just thought I'd share.

Sugar Plum Vegan Cafe.

This place is fabulous! It's a cute, funky, little vegan cafe in Midtown. (anyone from Sacramento, it's where True Love use to be.) I'm not vegetarian nor vegan, so I was a little hesitant to try it at first. The unknown thought of tofu, tempeh bacon, and veggie cheese was a little intimidating. My first time there, however, I fell in love. The sweet potato, tomato, and onion panini was to die for! I was hooked. It's around the corner from my work, so it's an ideal lunch spot. I am there once to twice a week trying their new dishes, as their menu changes weekly and even daily. Veggie burritos, artichoke pizza, broccoli soup are all super delish! I love going in and reading the SN&R or a book from their bookshelf as I wait for my order. It's also cool that the folks there know me by name already. Sugar Plum has definitely helped during the Daniel's Fast...very DF friendly. This makes my lunch hour decision so much easier. If you ever have the chance, stop in for lunch or dessert...they have lovely baked goods. Bring your dollar bills as it's cash only. (Fight big banks and their credit card fees. I get it...very "vegan-like".)

2010 Thanks.

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is upon us yet again. I can distinctly remember last year's holiday, and it's crazy how another year has flown by. Like every year, 2010 has had it's ups and downs, but God is still faithful, and for that, I am forever thankful. As a Christian, I strive to be continually and daily thankful and live a life of gratitude as Christ has called us to, but there are days and weeks that go by without truly giving thanks for my life and everyone and everything in it.
I'm thankful for my Savior, Redeemer, and daily hope - Jesus Christ. I know that this may not make sense for everyone, or some people take thanking God and everything He is and does lightly, but I can truly and sincerely say that my life is amazing because of Him and I would be a serious wreck, if I did not have Him to turn to. I have overcome and found peace in life's madness only due to the comfort and love Christ gives. I'm amazed by His grace and mercy. Thank you, Lord.
I'm thankful for my amazing and wonderful family. They are my everything. I seriously have, hands down, the best family ever. My parents are all I could ask for and more. They have been my love, support, shelter, guide, example, and friend. I am so thankful for their selflessness and love. I would not be who I am today without them. I owe them my life. Thank you, Mom & Dad.
I'm thankful for my crazy, fun, and loving siblings. We have so much love for each other. They make me laugh, make me crazy, and show me how to enjoy life, each in their own way. They are my best friends. I'm thankful that I am close with my siblings. I know that there are many siblings that are not close, and may not even speak to each other. Recently, many people have told me that they love how close my siblings and I are, and that they are even envious. Although sad to hear on their end, it makes me even more thankful. Thank you, Priscilla, Rebekah, and Isaiah.
I'm thankful for all the amazing friends in my life! I'm thankful for the old, faithful friends that have stayed in my life over the years despite changes and challenges. Just as much, I'm thankful for all the new friends that have come into my life. I am amazed at how people enter your life and have such an impact. The love and faithfulness of a friend amazes me. I'm thankful for the laughter, confidence, advise, and encouragement friends bring into my life. Thank you, friends!
I'm thankful for my health, my entire family and relatives, my church, my pastor, my pastor's wife, leaders in my life, my ministry and purpose, my education, my Toby, my job, my house, my car, my country, my freedom.
I'm thankful for this beautiful thing we call LIFE! ♥
Happy Thanksgiving!
Much Love,
Sarah ♥
