happy thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I know that I have been somewhat absent on the blogging. You can thank my crazy, busy schedule for that one! I had the craziest past 2 weeks with school...midterms, papers, and projects...oh my! Plus everything else going on in my life.

But I'm glad it's ALL over with! :) Well...until finals begin. It never ends, does it? Lol.

I  am thoroughly going to enjoy my four-day weekend. :)
Today, I am just chilling with the family, cooking all day, and watch some movies. Then tomorrow, I'm hitting the mall! Shop, shop, shop! Can't wait. :) Then going to friends' house for a hang-out. Saturday & Sunday are still not planned yet. My family was thinking a mini-daycation somewhere, not sure yet.

I am thankful for soo much this year! It hasn't been an easy one, but I can still say I am thankful through it all. I have grown so much this year as a person and my eyes have been open in so many ways. I thank God for the good & the not so good that has happen this year.

I read a quote this week in the light of Thanksgiving that I really liked..."It isn't so much what's on the table that matters, as much as what's on the chairs."

Enjoy your Thanksgiving, especially those you enjoy it with.

rain.

I love the rain.

Well, honestly, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.
But right now, I'm loving it!

There's something about the rain that brings peace and refreshment.
I think it's the smell or the sound.

Rain also brings memories.
Good memories.
Warm memories.
:)

Enjoy it! The angels are showering. ;)

survey

I'm conducting a survey for my marketing research class.
Here is the link...

It's just a couple, easy questions.
Your help is greatly appreciated! :]

election '08

Wow, has this election been a crazy one!
I'm glad there's only a week left of this madness.

I've never been really fond of politics, but I know it's important and necessary. I wasn't old enough to vote for the last presidential election and didn't really pay attention to it. I was too worried about graduating high school and getting the perfect homecoming dress.
(ps: it really impresses and surprises me how young kids are all informed and opinionated on this years election)
What a memorable and historical election this will be! There's so much I can say about it.

I haven't been impressed with neither candidate. I feel this election hasn't been a true depiction of America and all it stands for. It's not like how I read and learned in history classes growing up. A shame? Good? Or just new times?
As my first presidential election, unfortunately, I am still slightly undecided on who I am voting for and if I even am voting for President. Bummer. I think I'll just "ini mini miny mo" in the voting poll. Lol, jk!
I heard a saying recently that really caught my attention and sad that it has come to this.
"Don't vote for Obama just because Scarlett Johansson told you to." I think this says alot about this election. I have encountered alot (not all) of people who are voting for Obama just because he is cool, black, young, a good speaker, or because celebrities endorse him.
Anywho, I didn't plan on sharing my side or opinion. Ooops... Lol.

VOTE! Right...?

bored

What to do when you're bored? BLOG! :]

I haven't been posting & updating the blog as much as I would like to...bummer.
I think that is because of the following two reasons:

1. I have no time! I have been very busy lately with school, work, homework, projects/hobbies, and trying to have some kind of a social life. It's been challenging, fun, and different, as well as, a great learning life experience.

2. I have no real direction or theme for this blog. I wanted a blog just for random thoughts or to update on life events. But it's been kind of hard to figure out what to write. I find myself sitting at my laptop, my typing hands ready, with a blank stare asking "uhhh, what do I write about?"
I've been wondering if I should have a theme as I see in other blogs, such as photography, food, or travel. Hmmm, I dunno. :] We'll see.

sundays.

I love Sundays. I've come to appreciate them more and more. For many years, Sunday was a busy, hectic kind-of-a day. I'm glad I can now enjoy them to the fullest.

Sunday's usually consist of family time, homework, and relaxing.
Today was a good day.
Church always begins my Sundays...a time I enjoy and makes my week. :) The gathering of God's children is wonderful. Worship and the preaching is edifying and rejuvenating. I'm happy to be part of the body of Christ.
After church, we went to Costco (our family's all-time favorite place. Lol) and ate there. All went good except for some rude & disrespectful stares. Grrr.
Later on, I took Toby for a walk. He loves walks! He gets so excited when I put my tennis shoes on. It's adorable.
After our stroll, I went for a little shopping outing. I went to Tilly's and bought an amazing brown, leather jacket! I can't wait to wear it. Then I hit Target and some other little stores.
I came home, did some cleaning, ate dinner, made some green tea, and started homework (this would have to be my least favorite part about Sundays). I waited for Jesse to come over, buuut that didn't happen. Lol. He owes me. :]
Although I had a full schedule, I was relaxed throughout the day, and time went by slowly.

Now I'm off to bed...work at 7am.
Oh! I'm riding my bike to work tomorrow! :) It's only 1 mile away and it's a good way to get some exercise in, which I haven't been doing lately. :-/

till next time.

job

Sooo I FINALLY found a job! After months (literally months) of looking and looking, I finally landed one. I work at a private school right by house (it's so close I could walk, pretty cool, huh?). I watch the students before and after school and help out with other things they need help in. It's pretty chill. I get to play w/ kids and watch movies w/ them in daycare. Sweet! Lol.
Thank the Lord! (and Sindy & Kristin) :]

ps. fall & rain?! I'm loving it!

so much to blog, so little time

I've been meaning to blog, but school has me real busy. It should die down within the next week or two. I managed to squeeze in this blog between classes...I have one a 6:00pm tonight.

I have a crazy story that I heard today!! You might have heard it since it made National news...
A 22 year old Sacramento State graduate is auctioning off her virginity for school tuition money!!! The highest bid is at $275,000!!! This is just insane and jaw-dropping!!! I have so much to say about this, but I won't. I'll leave it to your thoughts...

did you know?

Did you know that the U.S. savings rate is -1.8%?
tisk, tisk on Americans.

I love the little tidbits learned in classes.
:]

school

So I survived my first week of school!
Not too bad. I'm really enjoying my marketing classes, which is a very good thing since at times I question my major. I'm also taking a Hebrew Bible/Old Testament class which I'm excited about.

The first week of school is always hectic. Today I stood in a line to see a counselor for 45 minutes! Let's just say I wasn't a happy camper for the rest of the day. Lol.

I also came across a booth giving away free Sac State water bottles...score! :) I was just telling my mom the day before I wanted a new water bottle because my old one was too big & cumbersome to bring to school.
God always provides, even in the little things. :)

I'd like to take this time to thank McDonald's for their delicious, addicting, and affordable iced coffee. I can't remember the last time I went to Starbucks. Lol.

busy

Sooo much to do for Saturday!!
This week is going to be crazy!

I have a million things to do, plus, I start school tomorrow. Aghhh!
I'm excited about school especially since it's my last year. :) :)
May 2009 baby!!

Also, I'm going to the Hillsong United concert tomorrow night, which is gonna be awesome!
I love their music.

And Saturday's my birthday party. It's a dinner party and I hope it turns out the way I've planned. Thanks to Jesse who has helped me sooo much! I wouldn't have been able to do it without him. :)
This whole dinner party thing has really intrigued me. I want to have another one soon. A smaller, more casual one though. It's fun!

That's all for now.
take my poll.

julie & dustin's wedding

My very good friend, Julie, from junior high & high school got married this past weekend.
(yes on my birthday) :]
Her and Dustin have been together since we were 16. I remember being there when it all happened and it's so great to now see them married. They are a beautiful couple in Christ and really have inspired me with their relationship.

The wedding was beautiful and the bride looked gorgeous.

lists

I have an addiction. It's an obsessive disorder. I try to control myself, but it just take over. I sometimes think I need help. I try to live life without it, but there's no use. I'm hooked on...MAKING LISTS!! Haha.

Okay, okay, so it's not that bad, but I do consider myself an obsessive list-maker. I'm not sure where I picked up this habit, but for as long as I can remember I make lists.
I make lists of what to do, where to go, what to buy, what to blog, who to call, even small, silly things like take a shower or pluck my eyebrows. I know, weird. You would think I wouldn't need to write down every little thing I have to do in life.
I have different lists going on...some are for short-term, others for long-term. Example. I have a list for today, tomorrow, this week/month, yearly lists, life lists, and it goes on.

My favorite mediums for list-making are post-its, notepads, marker board, and when I'm running low on these, good ol' scratch paper works great! I've thought about keeping my lists electronically on my laptop and then deleting each item once it's done. I would save paper and wouldn't have to re-write my lists all time. I'll have to try this out.

I know it's cheesy and seems a bit over the top organized, but I really would be lost without my lists. Just thought I'd share, it was on my list. :)

cards

With it being my birthday and all, I received numerous cards (thank you to everyone who sent me one) and have come to realize how personal and wonderful they are!!

It's such a great feeling to receive a card, open it, read it, and display it (I display mine!). It's so much more personal and thoughtful versus a phone call, email, or text.
Because of this wonderful feeling and enlightenment, I've made it a point to send cards out more often. I believe it's such a kind gesture and since I enjoy receiving them so much, I'm sure others will too.

I already sent one out this week! :)

my 21st birthday

I had a fabulous birthday weekend! :)
Just in a nutshell...dinner, surprises, old sac, funny laughs, the fair, old friends, and lots of food & cake!!

I'll post more later & pics.
I'm also having a birthday party in 2 weeks. The partying hasn't stopped yet! Lol.

Happy Birfday to meeee! ;]
    ps. don't worry-it's cider. Lol.

home

This ikea commercial is so cool!
I dig all ikea commercials. They're all hilarious! Although there are some questionable, not so kid-friendly ones (like all the banned ones).

This one is my favorite. I love the idea and values of home and family.
I can't wait to have my own house or apartment. :)
Not that I'm rushing marriage! Lol. We'll save that for another blog.

I'm finishing up a paper & project due tomorrow. I'll be up super late. (what else is new. Lol.)
After this, I will have 1 week of summer vacation then start Fall semester on Sept. 2nd.
Bum. :(
Last year at Sac State! Woo hoo!

sunday

Church today was amazing!

I have gained such a new perspective on God, Christianity, and my walk with Christ in the past months.

I'm glad to be part of SF Lighthouse (<-- click) and am excited for what God has planned for it!
My pastor is a great man of God, everyone is super friendly, and the atmosphere there is so real.
Love it! :]

If you're ever in the area, come visit us!

change

Change is hard.
But it's a part of life.

I've been experiencing much change in my life as of recently and it hasn't been easy.
I've learned ,now more than ever, to trust in God and His plan.

I'm excited & nervous for what the future holds.
:]

yard sale

We (my mom & I) had a yard sale today.

It was somewhat successful. We learned a lot for future yard sales.

It was fun meeting neighbors, talking to folks, and enjoying the morning weather.

We're planning another one in the fall
:]

Hello

Hello Blogging World!
So I had the thought of starting a blog yesterday, and here I am.
I'm not sure exactly what my purpose is yet...I guess just random stuff about life.
I've heard writing (typing) out thoughts is helpful (and fun!). We'll see.

My name is Sarah.
today.
Thee coolest place ever! :)
